Hanukkah Gift for a Neighbor in Israel — 5 Kosher Boxes (2026)

Hanukkah Gift for a Neighbor in Israel — 5 Kosher Boxes (2026)

A Hanukkah gift for a neighbor in Israel is a small, shareable box you can hand over at the door or leave outside the apartment: olive oil, jam, chocolate or Hanukkah candles, from ₪92 with VAT. If you live abroad but have family or friends on the same street, it is one of the easiest ways to say "we are thinking of you" without a long courier trip. See our guide to gifts that support real Israeli producers for the bigger picture.

Hibuk Otef — The Story Behind Every Gift

Hibuk Otef (“Enveloping Embrace”) is a unique boutique gift initiative that brings together products from the communities of the Gaza Envelope and Israel’s southern and northern frontier, alongside works of art that commemorate the beauty of the region. The project was founded to support local producers, farmers and entrepreneurs who were affected. 60% of revenues go directly to producers from the affected communities.

What makes a good Hanukkah gift for a neighbor?

Keep it modest, edible and easy to share. A neighbor gift is not a major present: most people spend roughly ₪90-150 including VAT, and the sweet spot is a box that fits a coat-rack hook or a doorstep without a fuss. Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday 4 December, so the first candle falls on Shabbat eve and the eight nights run to 12 December.

Avoid anything that needs a reply. A kosher box with chocolate, olive oil and a jar of preserves is welcome in almost every household, and it is far safer than wine for a neighbor whose observance you do not know. Every Hibuk Otef box is kosher under local rabbinate supervision, most of them Badatz.

    Choose by budget

All prices below include 18% VAT. Home delivery within Israel costs ₪45 + VAT (₪53.10) and takes 3-8 days depending on location, so order the week before the festival at the latest.

    Rom Hanukkah Box — ₪92

The lightest option: a set of 44 Hanukkah candles in a presentation box made in memory of Ofir Libstein of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, plus two fruit preserves with no preservatives. A respectful, practical pick for a close neighbor.

    Shani Hanukkah Box — ₪106

Cold-pressed extra-virgin olive oil from Gaza-border vineyards, a fruit preserve, four hand-made pralines and a flavored infusion for a hot or cold drink. Shani is the best-value "something for everyone" box.

    Neria Hanukkah Box — ₪130

The Hanukkah candles in the Ofir memorial set, olive oil from the Envelope, a fruit preserve and a boutique chocolate bar. Neria is the one we suggest when the neighbor is also a friend, and it can swap the chocolate for the recipe book "Cooking Together".

    Winter Embrace Box — ₪142

A scented candle from the "Noarei HaOr" project and healing farm for trauma survivors in Rishpon, hand-made chocolate with Galilee honey, dried Galilee fruit, a cotton tote and the recipe book honoring Envelope farmers. Good for a neighbor who hosts.

    Galilee Embrace Box — ₪148

Olive oil, Upper Galilee dried-fruit mix, hand-made Galilee chocolate, a fruit preserve and a savory spread. The northern box in our range, and the one to choose for a neighbor with a bigger household.

    Producers behind the Galilee box

Shulman family chocolate, Kibbutz Dafna. A small bean-to-bar chocolate house in the Upper Galilee, where family members trained in chocolate schools in New York and Belgium and came home to make hazelnut, fig and organic vanilla bars in small batches. Dafna sits close to the northern border, and the region has felt the Lebanon war directly.

Pki'in chocolate. A boutique producer in Pki'in, an Arab-Druze village in the Upper Galilee better known for centuries of olive-oil making. Putting its chocolate in the same box as Jewish kibbutz producers is exactly what we mean by "all the good that Israel has".

Francesca's Market, Gilat. Founded by Efrat Monastersky, it makes spreads, jams and sauces at home scale in small batches, each jar with its own personality. Efrat used the war years to expand, and her products are now sold across Israel.

How to write the card and when to deliver

Write one line. "Happy Hanukkah from your neighbors upstairs" is better than a paragraph. We can add a personal greeting card to any order. Tell the courier to leave the box with a building contact or in a safe spot if nobody answers, which the delivery company can arrange.

Do not deliver on Friday afternoon. In 2026 the first night is Friday 4 December, so aim for Wednesday 2 or Thursday 3 December, or send it for the second night on Saturday evening via a Sunday delivery. Ordering about a week ahead keeps you inside the 3-8 day delivery window.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much should I spend on a Hanukkah gift for a neighbor?
