Hanukkah Hostess Gift in Israel — 5 Kosher Boxes (2026)

Hanukkah Hostess Gift in Israel — 5 Kosher Boxes (2026)

A Hanukkah hostess gift in Israel is a small, kosher, ready-to-share present that you bring (or send) to whoever is lighting candles and serving sufganiyot in their home. The best ones are consumable or useful, easy to open on the spot, and priced between roughly ₪92 and ₪130 with VAT. If you are abroad, the easiest route is to order a local gift delivered inside Israel, so nothing crosses a border and nothing is stuck at customs.

Hibuk Otef — The Story Behind Every Gift

Hibuk Otef (“Enveloping Embrace”) is a unique boutique gift initiative that brings together products from the communities of the Gaza Envelope and Israel’s southern and northern frontier, alongside works of art that commemorate the beauty of the region. The project was founded to support local producers, farmers and entrepreneurs who were affected. 60% of revenues go directly to producers from the affected communities.

What makes a good Hanukkah hostess gift in Israel?

Choose something the host can use during the eight nights. Hanukkah 2026 begins on the evening of Friday, 4 December, and runs for 8 nights, which means many households host two, three or even four gatherings in that week. A box that holds candles, something sweet and something to serve (jam for the sufganiyot, chocolate for the kids' table, a hot-drink infusion) is used on the very first night, not stored in a cupboard.

Skip the heavy and the perishable. Israeli hosts already have a fridge full of latkes and donuts. A gift with a shelf life of at least 6 months, which is the norm for our boxes, lets the host enjoy it after the holiday as well. Alcohol-free options are easy to find among the boxes below, so you never have to guess at a guest's preferences.

Keep it kosher. Every Hibuk Otef box is kosher under local rabbinate supervision, most of them Badatz, so it suits both secular and observant hosts.

Choose by budget: five Hanukkah boxes, cheapest first

All prices below include 18% VAT, because this guide is written for private buyers. Each box links to its product page, and each is a real, current in-stock box.

    Rom Hanukkah Box — ₪92.04

Rom Hanukkah Box is the entry-level choice: a set of 44 Hanukkah candles in a gift package plus 2 jars of fruit jam (170 g each, no preservatives). It is the right size for a casual visit where you want to bring "something," and the candles mean it is useful from night one.

    Itamar Hanukkah Box — ₪103.84

Itamar Hanukkah Box pairs the 44 candles with a jar of fruit jam and a pack of chocolate-coated pops (100 g), or alternatively a handmade chocolate bar from the north. It is a good fit when children will be at the table.

    Shani Hanukkah Box — ₪106.20

Shani Hanukkah Box is the "host who cooks and entertains" box: cold-pressed extra-virgin olive oil (250 ml) from Gaza Envelope groves, a fruit jam, 4 handmade pralines and a hot-or-cold infusion (hibiscus, jasmine or herbal tea). It contains no alcohol.

Hibuk Hom (Warm Embrace) Hanukkah Box — ₪118.00

Hibuk Hom Hanukkah Box is built for a family host: a bilingual wildflower memory game (50 cards), a handmade Galilee chocolate bar, and an aromatic poured candle in a glass jar with a burlap cover (or, alternatively, a Negev basil-and-cashew pesto). It gives the family something to do at the table after the candles are lit.

    Neria Hanukkah Box — ₪129.80

Neria Hanukkah Box is the most generous box here: the 44 candles, cold-pressed Israeli olive oil (250 ml), a fruit jam, and a handmade boutique chocolate bar (80 g), or alternatively the "Mevashlim Yachad" cookbook from Dfus Be'eri, a 72-page softcover that honors the farmers of the Gaza Envelope. Pick this one for a host you want to thank properly.

    The producers behind these boxes

Tali Matar, illustrator. The wildflower memory game in the Hibuk Hom box is illustrated by Tali Matar, house artist of the Israel Museum. Its 50 cards are bilingual, so Israeli kids and visiting grandchildren can play together, and the memory-game version of the box includes a donation to Atid LaOtef, an organization working to rebuild the Gaza Envelope.

Nerei HaOr candle project. The aromatic candle in the same box comes from the Nerei HaOr project, and the purchase includes a donation to its healing farm for trauma survivors. For a host who has had a hard year, that is a quiet way to say "we are with you."

Ofir's Light candles, in memory of Ofir Libstein. The 44 Hanukkah candles in the Rom, Itamar and Neria boxes are the "By the Light of Ofir" set, made in memory of Ofir Libstein, a community leader who fell on 7 October 2023 defending his kibbutz, Kfar Aza. The box includes a donation to the foundation that continues his work: strengthening Gaza Envelope communities, nurturing young leaders and linking Israel with Jewish communities worldwide. Lighting them is a way to bring that story to the host's table.

Northern chocolate makers. The handmade chocolate bars in several boxes are made in Galilee workshops, small-batch producers who kept working through the Lebanon war. Their bars are a good "sweet, but not a donut" alternative on a Hanukkah table.

When to order and how delivery works

Order early, because Hanukkah deliveries cluster in a few days. The first candle is on Friday, 4 December 2026, and deliveries do not run on Shabbat, so order well before that weekend. Single orders are usually delivered within a few days to a week, so placing your order by the end of November leaves comfortable margin; large orders for several hosts need more time.

Send it with your own words. Every box can carry a personal greeting, so a diaspora family can send gifts to relatives who are hosting in different cities. Because the sender is local, there are no customs, duties or import delays for the recipient. For more ideas by recipient, see our guides to a Hanukkah gift for grandparents in Israel and a Hanukkah gift for grandchildren.

Ordering for a company or a large group? Order any quantity. For bulk and branded orders see the guide to bulk Hanukkah gifts for companies in Israel; business prices are quoted ex-VAT.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good Hanukkah hostess gift in Israel?

A consumable box is the safest choice: Hanukkah candles, jam, chocolate or olive oil, priced at about ₪92 to ₪130 with VAT. Our boxes are kosher under local rabbinate supervision, most of them Badatz, and they keep for at least 6 months.

Is it appropriate to bring wine to a Hanukkah party in Israel?

It depends on the host. Many households are alcohol-free or have guests who do not drink, so a box with olive oil, chocolate and infusion, like the Shani box, is a safer default. All five boxes in this guide are free of alcohol.

Can I send a Hanukkah hostess gift to Israel from abroad?

Yes. Hibuk Otef is based in Israel and delivers locally, so the recipient pays no customs or duties. You order online or by WhatsApp and the box is delivered to the host's address with your greeting card.

How early should I order for Hanukkah 2026?

Hanukkah starts on the evening of Friday, 4 December 2026. Single orders usually arrive within a few days to a week, so ordering by the end of November is comfortable. Deliveries do not run on Shabbat.

    Where does the money go?

60% of revenue goes directly to producers from the affected communities in the south and the north. The rest covers the product, packaging, art card and delivery.
