About our Yedidya

Yedidya Bloch, of the community of Mevo Horon. A loving husband to Sapir, beloved by his family and friends. Yedidya was born and raised in Mevo Horon in the Binyamin region, where he absorbed values of love for the land and love for people. He studied at the high-school yeshiva in Itamar, and those close to him describe a man of a big heart, full of endless giving and always welcoming. His family called him "the glue of the family" for his ability to unite and connect everyone. Among the green landscapes of the Ayalon Valley, Yedidya's love of the country's trails and the scenery of his childhood stood out.

Upon enlisting in Battalion 101, and after completing a squad commanders course, Yedidya served as a squad commander and fought in Operation Protective Edge. In the reserves he served as a commander and machine gunner. On October 7th he fought bravely in Kfar Aza and later in Khan Yunis. Near the eve of Yom Kippur he was called up to reserve duty on the Lebanon front. On the morning of Simchat Torah, his team ran into a terrorist ambush and the force suffered many wounded. Under heavy fire, Yedidya bravely pinned down the terrorists, hit them and enabled the evacuation of the wounded. During the battle he was critically wounded. On the 27th of Tishrei 5785 (29 October 2024) he died of his wounds, aged 31. In that battle, Sergeant Guy Ben Harush of blessed memory fell alongside him. Even in death Yedidya continued to save lives, with the donation of his organs.
