There is a quirk worth planning around this year: because the first candle falls on a Friday, it is lit before the Shabbat candles, and the eighth night lands on Saturday, after Shabbat ends. Both ends of the festival butt up against Shabbat, when nothing is delivered in Israel.

Work backwards from that. Delivery anywhere in Israel takes 3–8 business days depending on location, Israeli couriers run Sunday to Thursday, and December is one of the busiest shipping months of the year. Har Odem Winery sits on the slopes of Mount Odem in the northern Golan, close enough to the Lebanese border that the past two years have been spent farming vines within range of rocket fire. Sending from abroad — customs, VAT and kosher

If your recipient is in Israel, there is nothing to worry about at the border. We are a local Israeli sender, so the gift never crosses customs, the recipient pays no import duty, and the shekel price already includes Israel's 18% VAT — the price you see is the price that arrives.

Shipping a taste of Israel out to a home abroad is a different matter in 2026, and it is worth being straight about it. The United States suspended its de-minimis exemption indefinitely — the suspension took effect in August 2025 and was written into permanent regulation on 24 June 2026 — so commercial shipments to the US now face formal customs entry and duty regardless of value. The long-standing exemption for bona-fide gifts under $100 per recipient per day still exists, but it applies to genuine person-to-person gifts and does not cover purchases from an online store. The EU's €150 duty relief also ended on 1 July 2026. In practice: sending to someone in Israel is clean and duty-free, while sending abroad may now attract duty at the destination.
